This article references features available since the August Update, in which lab plans replaced lab accounts. For more information, see What's New in the August Update. R is an open-source language used for statistical computing and graphics.

It's used in the statistical analysis of genetics to natural language processing to analyzing financial data. R provides an interactive command line experience. The free version provides code-editing tools, an integrated debugging experience, and package development tools.

This article will focus on solely RStudio and R as a building block for a class that requires the use of statistical computing. Each article describes how to use the Data Science Virtual Machine for Linux Ubuntu marketplace image, which has many data science related tools , including RStudio, pre-installed. To set up this lab, you need an Azure subscription and lab plan to get started.

If you don't have an Azure subscription, create a free account before you begin. Some classes require files, such as large data files, to be stored externally. See use external file storage in Azure Lab Services for options and setup instructions. Program is very intuitive to use for someone who has already done a lot of programming. However, program is not very intuitive for a novice user. User can do a lot of editing and plotting without learning too much about program.

However, support for this program is not as good as it could be. Software is very user-friendly. There are a number of different features that make it easy to use. For example, Help file can be found in Help menu, which is very convenient.

Interface is intuitive, so even if you have never used R before, you should have no problems navigating interface. Functionality of RStudio Mac is very broad.

User can edit, plot, design statistical models, create an R package. These features are all done in a professional and polished environment. Software download RStudio for Windows is packed with a number of different features that are very useful. For example, one feature is integrated plotting tools. This is helpful if you are working on long-term projects where you need to make graphs.

Plots can be exported to other software, which is very convenient. RStudio requires a bit operating system. If you are on a 32 bit system, you can use an older version of RStudio. So this is a specific problem of XPS maybe?
